Imaging of Hip Joint
Ha Doo-Hoe

Abstract
Hip joint pathology has diverse pathologies according to age. In adults, variable pathologies include avascular ne-crosis of femur head, idiopathic bone marrow edema syn-drome, femoroacetabular impingement and labral tear, snapping hip syndrome, greater trochanteric pain syndrome with tendinitis and trochanteric bursitis, and other bursitis. In children, osseous pathologies include Legg-Calve-Perthes disease, slipped capital femoral epiphysis and develop-mental hip dysplasia, and transient synovitis should be dif-ferentiated with septic arthritis. Accurate diagnosis of varia-ble pathologies can be done with understanding of charac-teristic imaging findings including conventional radiograph, CT, US and MRI. Conventional radiograph and CT help to diagnose exact osseous pathologies, and MR is a basic imaging modality for the intraarticular pathologies. US and MR are useful to diagnose soft tissue pathologies
